Siuslaw Pioneer Books
"In 1920, a gathering of old friends met at the home of Mrs. Clara Haring in honor of her 66th birthday. A plan was made to perpetuate the memory of the men and women who laid the foundation for the cultural history of the Siuslaw region. The Siuslaw Pioneer Association was formed and Mrs. Clara Haring was elected president.
“Now an attempt is made to start a year-book. The year-book will try to describe the life of the Siuslaw pioneer in his primitive surroundings and in endeavors which directly and indirectly pushed forward the fulfillment of the pioneer’s hope that mingled with promise in the echo of his song.”
From The Siuslaw Pioneer 1947
The results of their efforts are the 35 volumes of “The Siuslaw Pioneer” shown below.
