Rural School Display
(No Longer on Display)
The previous Rotating Exhibit featured ‘Early Siuslaw Valley Schools’. That school district included a 350 square mile area of 40 schools in western Lane County during 1880 – 1950.
The exhibit featured 12 schools, many of which were one room structures in rural areas for grades 1-8. The room was heated by a wood stove and students were typically assigned seats in rows according to grade level. The exhibit featured images, list of schools and a 1927 report card.
